I get it; the city looks cute and quaint and all colonial with bricks everywhere. But hear this, Menino (you dumbass), ladies no longer wear clunky, flat-soled shoes. Designers don't make clunky, flat-soled shoes. Dress shoes these days, which the culture demands we wear to work/dinner/parties/drinks, have high and skinny heals. Said heals are just about the right size to fit into and get stuck in those gaping cracks between the bricks that have formed everywhere across the city because the city doesn't know how to maintain its sidewalks!! In theory, we make up 50% of the population and it INFURIATES me whenever I see a new sidewalk going in with bricks. Just go with concrete. It's cheaper, safer and easier to maintain. No one will forget the city's history just because we update the sidewalks to the 21st century. I swear, one of these days I'm going to break an ankle and Menino will hear about it personally!!

But it does raise an interesting question. Who ever decided that high, skinny heels were a good idea? I mean, we were born with these big, flat feet for a reason. Then someone comes along and decides it's "fashionable" to walk around on two little pegs under your heels? I understand the height thing, but why do they have to be so narrow??
Sucks to be a girl! 2. jholtzSucks to be a girl! — BonesHarsh, harsh... High heels look classy. But I can't imagine having to walk in them. 3. jholtzAlso, along the same lines, I think the bricks look classy. But not to walk on with peg-feet. 4. squeegeeboywhat about pirates? |
