I know this seems kind of a trivial rant but...  good lord, can we please find another way to describe controversy!?  Everything is "Something-gate" nowadays.  The latest is "Ballgate" -- the mystery of the missing world series ball...  Earlier we had "Cameragate" (or "Spygate") for the Pats...

Look.  It was kind of funny the first few times it was used.  But...  it's dead now.  Stop beating the dead horse.

You'd think that "professional" journalists could come up with something a little more creative.  Watergate was decades ago. Are we going to still be calling things "Something-gate" in another 40 years?  100 years?  come on.  Lets get creative people.

hey I think saying gate is funny. but maybe you are right about it getting a little old... still, you are right that it is a trivial rant [smiley=wink]

Heaven't Gate? Wow! I totally had blocked that out of my memory. I hope those people are doing well on their spaceship.

Maybe we just need another controversy/conspiracy in our day so the term can be replaced. Maybe before Watergate, they called it "moon landing." "Ball Landing" Maybe before that, it was JFK'd or Oswald. (i.e. Ball-FK'd) Maybe in the Greek days, it was "Ball-Brutus'd"
