We have two neighbors with dogs that they let out in their abutting yards that howl and bark from 6:00 am until noon 4-5 mornings a week. We have no problems with pets or dogs,in fact we play with the dogs when possible, but you have to be a complete FN jerk to do that to your neighbors and act like you cannot hear the noise. We work evenings and night shifts so when we get home and try to sleep we listen to this ridiculous din in the A.M.,or our day off starts with it. One of the dogs is a Beagle that howls like his leg is in a bear trap, the other is a Whippet that has a high pitched yap that scratches the surface of your brain .Neither one of us has a problem going over, banging on the door and saying WTF or even doing it civilly(I don't think that is an option). But from past experience of living in Dorchester for my whole life I know that banging on doors leads to a war that's next steps are flattened tires, keyed cars, fights and cops. I feel like going out back at 3:00 am and building a deck with power tools and see how they like they noise when they're trying to sleep

That really sucks. Can you call the cops and file a noise complaint?

Forwarded to the animal control officer who says they need a few weeks of observation befor anything will be done. Rediculous.

They probably don't realize there are people trying to sleep during the day. But it's still really, really inconsiderate. A dog should never be just left outside barking. It's not fair to the neighbors, or the dog.

I couldn't agree more about it being unfair to the dog. We understand the dogs are just being dogs. They don't have to much choice in the matter, they can't talk so of course when they want some thing they bark. I overheard one of the owners complaining the other day that she was mad at the dog so she left her in the yard for almost a week to teach her a lesson. What kind of an idiot does that to an animal, as if the poor dog is going to figure out it's being punished for doing something particular. Like it understands English and can connect the act with the weeks worth of neglect.

At my old house, the dog would be barking for nearly an hour, so then I figured that in the winter, when it snows, that would stop. But they leave their dog out in the snow and the barking continues! That's animal abuse and it would drive the neighbors crazy. At least I moved and it is all over.

I don't hate the dogs. but I am beginning to hate the owners. I live in a little country town Clifton in Qld moved to get away from noise no have to put up with the selfish woman next door who thinks it is funny for her dogs to annoy me and other. One day someone will snap and she will be the one crying.
