Oh, my gosh, I can't believe what happened. This is a total outrage.  I park my car on the street, and I have been doing that even before I moved here, so I am well aware of street cleaning rules.  So, last week, I knew my car was on the side of the road about to be swept, so I made sure to go move my car at 8:00 in the morning.  The sign says 8~12 street cleaning.  I was planning to move it to another location, but when I showed up at 8:15, they were about to sweep my street!

The reason I am mad is not because I was towed.  I successfully got to my car before the cleaning machine, so I moved it, and I went around the block.  When the street cleaners were done, I parked exactly where I was before.  Totally makes sense, right?

Well, I went to work, and came back later, and I noticed a ticket on my car.  Time?  10:20AM.  WTF?  I know for a fact, and I saw with my very own eyes that the cleaning was done. How in the world did I get a ticket?  Is it because I was parked there from 8~12?

PorkLoins, which town are you from? I had a friend tell me of a similar story. A friend of mine moved to Boston from NYC, and he noticed that the rules are different. He used to be able to do what you did (move the car and wait for the street sweeper to finish), but in Boston, The policemen who write the tickets have no idea about when the streets are swept.

Somerville. I guess that might be the reason, but that still doesn't explain why I should get ticketed for disrupting street cleaning if the street has already been cleaned.

Wow, that is wild. I do that all the time, so maybe I should be careful. Any one know the deal in Cambridge?
4. NYC is Crazy
Your friend is from NYC? That's where they actually have people for hire who move cars for the days they do street cleaning. With the parking spots in several hundreds, it totally makes sense. When someone pointed out the scene, it was crazy. People lined up waiting for the cleaner to come by. They pull out, wait for the cleaner to finish, then pull right back in the spot. The funniest thing is that everyone on the street does the same thing. They don't even drive around the block.

It's my understanding that in Cambridge, the police follows the street cleaners to, 1) help tow, and 2) ticket the vehicles. So, what you did would have worked in Cambridge. This is actually an interesting topic. [smiley=think]

I have to say, that is pretty stupid that you got towed. Even if the cop/tow truck didn't see the sweeper go by, it's pretty obvious whether the street has been cleaned or not. It's just common sense.

Bones, I actually didn't get towed. Just a ticket. Still...such a-holes.

Ok. So basically, the city is scrounging for money any way they can [smiley=angry]
