The motorcycles are a weird thing in America today. They seem to evade every conceivable road rules and laws out there. For example, why aren't all the exhaust or noise regulated during inspections? (or are they?) Why don't they need to wear seatbelts? Why can they drive around with their rims out all over the place? These are rules for cars, but they don't seem to exist for motorcycles. Weird! I hear about all these vehicle recalls and families uprising against car manufacturers about emissions, noise and safety, but I don't see them doing that for motorcycles. Come on!! It's so strange that I can get a citation for not wearing a seatbelt, but a biker gets away with sittingon a seat that nees to be plopped at red lights. Am I the only one who finds this funny?

In a day where people are up and arms about the safety of combat zone hummers, we don't do anything about the motorcycles driving around in our neighborhoods. 2. Proud to be an American![[smiley=cool]](http://www.unleashyouranger.com/components/com_jreactions/custom/templates/simple/smileys/smiley_cool.gif) I wondered this myself, but I would assume that it's to do with American pride. It's like the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms. We all know guns are dangerous, but we keep it around because we are Americans and are very proud of...guns that established our country. Of course motorcycles have no constitution (amendment) protecting them...so, I guess I am not really sure why they are allowed to evade rules. Good point, swesson! 3. Guest User...or that no one cares about the type of character who drive these things. I don't mean that in a demeaning way. I am saying that motorcyclists are usually ones who enjoy risks...and they understand the risks involved...so people don't feel bad for them. Hence there are no moms picketing in front of motorcycle companies. ![[smiley=tongue]](http://www.unleashyouranger.com/components/com_jreactions/custom/templates/simple/smileys/smiley_tongue.gif) 4. Biker BickerWell, we all know that bikers would revolt if they took the risk element out of motorcycles, like putting windshields and seatbelts. That defeats the purpose and the whole concept of what they stand for. 5. Green LoverIMO, I think motorcycles should be promoted as alternative to large vehicles we drive today. Whenever I drive in rush hour traffic, I realize that most cars I see have one person each. How inefficient is that? Why do we need 5 seats to carry one? I think we should all be driving motorcycles. This may solve traffic problems too. Imagine 93~ It'd have 8 lanes on each direction! 6. BonesThe way I see it, they can do what they want as far as safety goes. It's their life they are taking into their hands. However when it affects me, like when they put loud pipes on, then I get pissed. 7. big manI can see your point on the safety issue bones, but what about the poor guy who kills the biker who wasn't wearing a helmet in NH, for instance? Life into his own hands or not, I'd have a tough time living with that. Safety regulations exist for a reason and they need to be enforced. 8.
