We all know the rules about the numbering of high ways. Even numbers run East-West (think Route 90, 2, 84), while the odd numbers run North-South (think Route 93, 95, 1).

Well, why does Route 28 go North South?

Has anyone taken route 28 from the south? i have tried several times to take it from Milton (through Mattapan, Boston, Cambridge, Somerville), but I have never been able to stay on it.

From what I understand, that rule only applies to interstate highways, unfortunately. So we're stuck with confusing roads. Nothing new there! [smiley=happy]

Mike Lowell 4eva!!! I love it.

Hey, that's interesting Jack. This has always confused me, but it makes sense that they numbered the interstate highway system that way. I guess mass roads were named before people had sense... [smiley=tongue]
