So, just last week, they were all going crazy about the Tobin Bridge being cracked and too old to support the heavy traffic.  OK, check!  Thanks for letting me know. OK...now what?  I haven't heard anything since from the media.  Is it cool now?  Did it miraculously fix itself?  Did the bridge just need a little rest from the daily grinds?

...or was it just some crazy media hype, a knee-jerk reaction from the one in Minneapolis?

I was totally on that bridge when the news broke loose. But I had no idea about it. I saw a bunch of news copter and traffic while driving home from work. I only found out when I got home and my wife told me. Isn't there something wrong with how people sitting at home knew, but people driving over the bridge didn't?

That is a little scary... Yeah all those news copters were probably hoping the thing would collapse so they'd have the best footage of it... or am I being cynical.... [smiley=think]

Found this on Boston.comOctober 16, 2007

Inspectors who found cracks last week in a Tobin Memorial Bridge support beam have found minor deficiencies that are not expected to affect traffic, said officials from the Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates the 57-year-old bridge. On Friday, state highway officials banned trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles from the bridge's southbound lanes after inspectors found a series of small cracks in a floor beam that supports the southbound deck. By Saturday afternoon, most of the restrictions were lifted and the bridge was reopened to all traffic.

What about that crappy Charlestown Bridge? I get the shivers whenever I drive over that POS, and no one has to tell me there is a problem with it.

Isn't that bridge like permanently under construction?
